The MX5 NC has a small case differential housing a 7" pinion and the NC MX5 was only available with a limited number of ratios. For many short course racing such as hill climbs, sprints and circuit racing the standard diff ratios might be too long, and you might favour quicker acceleration over maximum top speed.
We can offer the components to swap your differential from the standard MX5 unit to the larger and stronger 8" pinion RX8 diff, which have shorter ratios available, or using a short ratio gearset to increase acceleration.
Get in touch to discuss your requirements and we can go through your option.

Standard factory configuration with 178mph theoretical top speed @ 7500rpm with a tyre diameter of 24.72"

Easiest Conversion using a 5-speed differential with 162mph theoretical top speed @ 7500rpm with a tyre diameter of 24.72"

Easiest to find RX8 differential conversion Standard factory configuration with 149mph theoretical top speed @ 7500rpm with a tyre diameter of 24.72"

Late model and harder-to-find RX8 differential conversion Standard factory configuration with 139mph theoretical top speed @ 7500rpm with a tyre diameter of 24.72"

Things get interesting when we look at the 124 Spider gearset conversion, which can negate the need to convert to an RX-8 final drive, or used in combination with.
Here's the Spider gearset with the 3.727 final drive configuration with 175mph theoretical top speed @ 7500rpm with a tyre diameter of 24.72"
